Description
The Financial Planning and Analysis Senior Analyst supports Salud’s mission by examining financial data and producing relevant analysis, reports, and presentations to support the leadership team and participates in cross-departmental projects to improve operations. This position assists in identifying trends, performing statistical analysis, uncovering correlations and patterns to streamline financial operations, and supports the strategic plan of the organization. As an individual contributor, the Financial Planning and Analysis Senior Analyst reports to the Chief Financial Officer, provides strategic support to senior management, is a key member of the Finance team and works closely with the Data Analytics team.

Duties And Responsibilities
- Financial Analysis and Critical Thinking: Analyzes financial data, including income statements, balance sheets, and cash flow statements, to identify trends, variances, and potential risks.
- Prepares financial models to support scenario analysis for union negotiations. Supports analysis and scenario planning for special projects, including cost/benefit analyses, access and productivity analyses, etc.
- Reporting: Prepares detailed financial reports for senior management, including variance analysis, key performance indicators (KPIs), and productivity metrics; communicates and highlights important insights to inform decision-making.
- Budgeting: Works with operational and clinical leaders to develop and monitor budgets, identifying areas for cost reduction and improvement; assists in reforecasting budgets, as needed.
- Team Leadership: Works with the accounting, operational, clinical, and administrative teams to provide performance feedback and facilitate collaboration across the organization to improve key performance indicators (KPIs).
- Compliance: Ensures adherence to internal controls and regulatory requirements.
- Process Improvement: Identifies opportunities to streamline reporting processes and implement efficiency improvements. Learns and leverages new technology to improve processes, as needed.
- Data Integrity: Maintains accuracy of financial data by reviewing and reconciling accounts; learns all systems in Finance to support financial team, as needed.
- Collaborates with Health IT, Medical, and Operations staff to develop financial reports and helps to ensure and improve validity and integrity.
- Creates financial reports using various BI tools to analyze data from existing databases, supporting strategic goals, financial stability, and trend monitoring.
- Maintains a schedule of financial reports to be run daily, weekly, monthly, quarterly, or yearly.
- Produces financial reports for UDS, HEDIS and other financial dashboards.
- Participates in a team focused on financial data optimization and quality. Duties may include auditing financial data or systems to identify defects and incomplete data, and working with staff to develop remediation paths. Audits the validity of data in the system by running other reports, checking against trends, and using other specified mechanisms.
- Works with clinic and billing management staff to maximize the quality of financial data.
- Participates in staff meetings to improve the strategic use of financial data as requested.
- In collaboration with Data Analytics, identifies and researches methods of collecting financial data to support performance improvement, and fiscal reporting that align with identified needs.
- Participates in ongoing training to stay updated with financial data analysis techniques.

Required Qualifications- Bachelor’s Degree in Business Analytics, Accounting, Finance, or related field, or equivalent work experience.
- Knowledge of information technology applications, database management, reporting, and financial systems.
- 3+ years of experience in financial, business analytics or accounting data analysis, including an understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Practices (GAAP) and Internal Controls for Financial Reporting (ICFR).
- 3+ years of experience in effectively collaborating and project managing across departments.
- Organized and detail-oriented, with the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, to convey complex financial information effectively.
- Strong Interpersonal Communication and high Emotional Intelligence (EQ).
- Good judgment, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to prioritize projects, manage multiple tasks, and perform job duties accurately, effectively, and promptly to meet deadlines.
- High level of proficiency with Microsoft Office Application Suite; in particular, excellent high-level Excel skills.
Preferred Skills- Understanding of healthcare financial systems and administrative practices.
- Familiarity with standard concepts, practices, and procedures within healthcare, particularly primary care and community health centers.
- Experience in public health or hospital data analysis.
- Proficiency in using Microsoft PowerBI and SQL or related systems.
