About the role:

With a strong commitment to innovation and data-driven decision-making, we are seeking a Senior AI Engineer to spearhead the integration of machine learning capabilities into our Selfcare team. As a pivotal member of our team, you will play a crucial role in shaping the future of our product and services.

As a Senior AI Engineer, your role will involve initiating a transition towards leveraging data to enhance our product offerings. You will be embedded in the Payfit copilot product team, mentor colleagues in ML concepts, and contribute to the expansion of ML and LLMs at the core of our product.

Key responsibilities:

  • Participate in the team day-to-day development.
  • Technical Leadership: Lead the design, development, and deployment of lean machine learning solutions that bridge the gap between data insights and product enhancements. Serve as the subject matter expert for ML-related initiatives within the context of the Selfcare team.
  • Cross-functional Collaboration: Collaborate with team members, product managers, and engineers as well as other functions (customer support or sales) to identify opportunities for integrating machine learning into the product. Work closely with stakeholders to define clear goals and requirements for ML projects.
  • Lean Methodology: Embrace a lean approach to machine learning, focusing on delivering value quickly and efficiently. Iterate on models, pipelines, hypotheses, and experiments to achieve optimal results with minimal waste.
  • AI workflow & Finetuning: Design and build robust datasets and predictive models (including LLMs) that drive actionable insights and customer value. Leverage your expertise to identify and use the right foundational models, algorithms while ensuring scalability and maintainability.
  • Innovation and Research: Stay up-to-date with the latest advancements in AI. Experiment with new methodologies and technologies, advocating for their integration when they align with business objectives.
  • Pipeline Deployment and Monitoring: Design and implement data pipelines that bring machine learning models into production, ensuring their reliability and scalability. Establish robust monitoring processes to track performance, detect anomalies, and facilitate timely adjustments.
  • Mentorship and Training: Take an active role in mentoring and upskilling your team members on lean machine learning concepts, tools, and techniques. Help foster a culture of continuous learning and growth within the team.
  • Domain Driven Design (DDD) Bonus: If you have experience working with Domain Driven Design principles and software, you'll have the opportunity to apply this knowledge to enhance the alignment between our machine learning initiatives and our domain-specific requirements.

The role is for you if you have:

  • Experience: 5+ years of hands-on experience in AI Engineering and data science roles, with a proven track record of delivering impactful AI solutions.
  • Communication Skills: Effective collaboration with cross-functional teams, mentoring colleagues, and driving projects to success.
  • Domain Knowledge: Familiarity with the payroll or financial industry is a plus, but not mandatory.
  • Problem-solving: Ability to analyze complex business problems, identify opportunities for lean AI-driven solutions, and implement them effectively.

Your future team:

The Selfcare team at PayFit is responsible for building and maintaining the Copilot chat feature, which provides customer support through an AI-powered chatbot. The Copilot chat handles customer requests based on product data, customer success data, and overall product knowledge.

The team also focuses on improving the agent experience and developing an intelligent ticket routing system. By leveraging their expertise in lean AI, the Selfcare team aims to enhance the customer support experience and drive product innovation.

  • Initial Discovery Call: A Talent Acquisition representative will assess your qualifications and fit for the role - 30 / 45min.
  • Interview with the Engineering Manager of the Selfcare team - 45min.
  • Technical Interview with 2 team members – 90min.
  • Interview with Engineering Director - 45min.
  • Interview with members of the Selfcare team - 30min.

Background Check (ISO27001 certification): identity, diploma, and past professional experiences will be checked after the offer.

  • Parental support: 20 weeks maternity leave covered by PayFit and 4 weeks leave for the second parent.
  • Time off: 25 days of holidays + RTT days (depending on the contract).
