Octopus Energy Group is seeking a Grid Analyst to map, model, and analyze electricity grids across markets, informing capex decisions and the use of non-wire solutions. You will develop techno-economic models and contribute to interconnection assessments, helping shape energy systems for participants in the UK and beyond.

The role requires a strong background in energy systems or electrical engineering, with experience in PSCAD/PSSE/PowerFactory and knowledge of optimization.

Qualifications

• Strong background in energy systems or electrical engineering or power system modeling.
• Advanced power flow modelling expertise (PSCAD, PSSE, PowerFactory, PandaPower) and knowledge of non-linear optimization.
• Knowledge of linear, economic modelling (plexos a plus).
• Experience with DERs, medium and high voltage grids and utility-scale energy projects.
• Deep understanding of energy economics and grid infrastructure principles; able to derive insights from large energy data sets.
• Proactive and curious, able to start from scratch and iterate quickly.

Responsabilités

• Grid assessment: Map, analyse and model grids across markets and inform capex strategy with non-wire solutions.
• Techno-economic and electrical power flow modelling to define the optimal mix of resources.
• Technical assessment of grid solutions for quality and stability, focusing on non-wire options (flexibility and BESS).
• Grid development plans: support review and design of investment plans or IRPs for sign-off.
• Interconnection: analyze grid constraints and provide insights on connection queues.
• Interest in expanding into commercial modelling.
