Octopus Energy Group in Paris is seeking a quantitative finance professional to own the project model for large-scale energy opportunities, including generation, storage and flexible load. You will build pricing strategies and contribute to final investment decisions, drawing on DCF, IRR and scenario analysis.

You will price offers, model networks and tariffs, and develop the business case with internal and external presentations.

Qualifications

• 3–5 years in a numerate commercial role - infrastructure or renewables development, project finance, banking, energy trading or origination, strategy or energy consultancy.
• Financial modelling from first principles: DCF, IRR, scenarios and sensitivities.
• Advanced knowledge of GB/European power markets, and how network and connection costs land on a project.
• Advanced Excel and Python.
• Able to take a messy, incomplete problem to a clear recommendation.
• Quantitative degree - economics, engineering, finance, maths, physics - or equivalent experience.

Responsabilités

• Own the project model for each opportunity - generation, BESS, flexible load, network cost; capex, opex, revenue stack, IRR, downside cases.
• Price the offer - turn a load profile into a price and structure (tariff, PPA, tolling, availability-based).
• Value the flex - model storage and flexible load across wholesale, Balancing Mechanism, ancillary services and Capacity Market.
• Develop the business case - build internal and external presentations from indicative proposals to final investment decisions.
• Track the portfolio and read the market - monitor live projects, identify regulatory changes, support term sheets and diligence.
