At the Faculty of Medicine at the University of Bonn, a
W1 Junior Professorship for Cellular Protein Biochemistry
with Tenure Track W2
is to be filled at the earliest opportunity.
The professorship is based at the Institute of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology and is intended to represent the subject in its entire breadth within research and teaching. The applicant should be involved in research into cellular protein biochemistry at the Institute and strengthen the research specialisms of the Faculty of Medicine. Expertise in one or more of the following areas is expected; molecular mechanisms of cellular proteostasis, proteostasis in cell organelles, or mechanisms of the biology of cell organelles. It is expected that the candidate will be involved in current and future collaborative projects at the Faculty of Medicine (such as SPP2453, SFB TR333, SFB 1454, or iBehave). Expertise in proteomic analyses is desirable. In addition, the professorship is expected to actively contribute to conducting and further developing teaching within the Medicine, Dentistry, and Midwifery degree programs.
The successful candidate must have an excellent doctorate, outstanding academic achievements, and experience in acquiring competitive third-party funding and in teaching. The candidate should be prominent within cellular protein biochemistry. The position will be filled as a W1 professorship with tenure track. A progress evaluation will take place in the third year after employment begins, on the basis of which a decision will be made regarding an extension for a further three years. Following a positive final evaluation, the W1 professorship will transfer to a permanent W2 professorship after six years.
