Job summary

ABB is hiring a Principal Project Engineer in Minden, Germany. In this hybrid role, you will provide technical support to customers, diagnose and resolve complex issues, and grow ABB’s DCS knowledge across multiple products.

You will engage with the account team to leverage service opportunities and drive customer satisfaction through reliable, scalable solutions. You will collaborate with global support teams, participate in on-call incident response, and travel up to 5% as needed.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of experience in process automation.
• Strong knowledge of ABB automation products, including AC800M, Freelance, AC500, and Symphony Plus Melody.
• Knowledge of ABB DCS products such as ABB Ability System 800xA and Symphony Plus Operations is an advantage.
• High level of self-motivation, curiosity, and willingness to learn and adopt new technologies.
• Strong sense of ownership, combined with a problem-solving and solution-oriented mindset and effective communication skills.
• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field.
• Excellent communication skills in German (negotiation level) and English (fluent).
• Willingness to travel up to 5%.

• Provide technical support to internal and external customers, ensuring timely and cost-effective solutions.
• Diagnose, troubleshoot, and resolve technical issues via log analysis and remote diagnostics.
• Identify additional customer needs and service opportunities and communicate them to the account team.
• Build and maintain technical expertise across ABB’s DCS product portfolio.
• Participate in remote on-call services and incident response outside standard hours.
