Job summary

ABB AG in Heidelberg, Germany, is seeking an R&D Engineer to drive development and care activities for electromechanical switching devices within the Agile Unit Load Control. You will lead design efforts for plastic and metallic parts, supervise projects, and collaborate with global teams to ensure quality, cost, and sustainability targets are met.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or Mechatronics.
• 3–5 years experience in design of injection-m molded plastics and stamped metal parts.
• Experience with prototyping methods such as 3D printing.
• Experience with low-voltage products and related UL/IEC standards is desirable.
• Knowledge of PTC Creo, Windchill PLM, MS Office and simulation tools is an advantage.

Responsibilities

• Develop and design electromechanical components and assemblies for low-voltage switching devices.
• Lead and support R&D projects in accordance with the Stage-Gate model.
• Create validation plans compliant with global ABB standards and coordinate testing activities.
• Coordinate with stakeholders and suppliers to refine requirements and ensure manufacturability.
