Jobbeschreibung
Overview

AWS is set to introduce the inaugural European Sovereign Cloud (ESC), marking a significant development in utility computing (UC). We are seeking experienced systems engineers with a strong background in automation and operations to lead operations and development teams delivering high-availability AWS services (EC2, S3, Dynamo, Lambda, and Bedrock) exclusively for EU customers as part of the AWS Managed Operations team.

Your responsibilities include overseeing the ESC launch in 2025, collaborating with global AWS teams, and contributing to the evolution of AWS services and technology. A typical day involves working with technology leaders, enhancing day-to-day operations, and improving availability, reliability, latency, performance, and efficiency of the ESC. You may occasionally participate in on-call rotations to resolve incidents outside standard hours.

The overarching goal is to deliver scalable services and ensure a high-availability experience for EU customers. We invite experienced professionals to join us in building a best-in-class development engineering and operations team aligned with AWS’ commitment to customer satisfaction and continual innovation.

Utility Computing (UC) and the European Sovereign Cloud (ESC) are part of AWS UC, which supports Compute, Database, Storage, Internet of Things (IoT), Platform, and Productivity Apps services in AWS. Managed Operations engineers engage with AWS customers who require specialized security solutions for cloud services.

Responsibilities (A Day in the Life)
  • Review the operational health of services within your team’s responsibility; identify anomalies and craft actionable bug reports to enhance efficiency and performance.
  • Provide constructive feedback on change management documents and address the team’s operational backlog.
  • Develop and test scripts to improve workflows and contribute to the reliability of systems.
  • Educate service teams about the European Sovereign Cloud, sharing insights and fostering a culture of knowledge.
  • Collaborate with technology leaders to drive continuous learning and improvement across the team.
  • Participate in a 24x7 on-call rotation to root-cause issues and maintain operational resilience.

This role emphasizes delivering scalable services and ensuring reliability for EU customers, contributing to a focused and impactful operation.

Eligibility Requirements
  • Fluency in written and spoken English is required.
  • Candidate must be a national of an EU member state and reside in the EU to operate the AWS European Sovereign Cloud.
  • Amazon provides relocation support for successful applicants relocating within the European Union.
  • Employees will participate in an on-call rota.
