As Strategic Procurement Buyer – Direct Procurement, you play a key role in advancing tonies’ global sourcing organization and ensuring that Procurement drives fast, reliable, resilient, and cost‑efficient business continuity. You implement procurement standards, help develop category strategies, and shape the RfQ process in close collaboration with our Sourcing Hub in Asia – from defining timelines to supporting evaluations and the awarding process. Acting as an innovation buyer, you partner with Product Development from the earliest ideation stages to enable early supplier involvement, technical feasibility, and cost transparency. Based in Düsseldorf, you strengthen the bridge between tonies headquarters and global sourcing operations, ensuring alignment between strategic direction and global execution.

Your tasks and responsibilities will include:

• Support for the creation of category and sourcing strategies for direct procurement focussing on key categories (e.g., Toniebox, Figurines).
• Translate strategic procurement goals into actionable roadmaps, standards, and processes.
• Act as interface to the Asia Sourcing Hub and support implementation of developed sourcing strategies for key categories including RfQs.
• Ensure RfQ activities meet resilience, cost, and quality targets while providing analytical decision support.
• Act as an innovation buyer, collaborating with Product Development during early concept and design phases.
• Ensure early supplier involvement, technical feasibility, and alignment with sourcing strategies.
• Conduct supplier market research and risk assessments to identify alternative sourcing opportunities.
• Track and analyse global supply‑market trends to identify sourcing opportunities and risks; collaborate cross‑functionally across Product Development, Engineering, Quality, Production, and Supply Chain, ensuring alignment between HQ and the Sourcing Hub.
• Communicate effectively between HQ and the Sourcing Hub to ensure transparency and alignment.

What we are looking for:

• Degree in Industrial Engineering, Supply Chain Management, Business, or a related technical field.
• Multiple years ( > 2 ) of experience in strategic procurement, supplier management, or category management, ideally in a manufacturing or consumer goods context.
• Solid understanding of global sourcing markets, supplier qualification, and RfQ processes.
• Strong analytical, conceptual, and project‑management skills.
• Excellent collaboration and communication skills across functions and regions.
• Fluency in English; German or Mandarin language skills are advantageous.
• Willingness to travel internationally (approx. 20–30 %) and to work in a hybrid set‑up with 2–3 on‑site days per week in Düsseldorf.
