As Senior Trade & Investment Advisor – Advanced Manufacturing (Space Focus), you will:

Essential qualifications, skills and experience

Our Ideal Candidate shows:

  • Proficiency in English and German (both written and spoken, minimum of C1 level for CEFR framework*);
  • 3‑5 years of Business to Business and/or Business to Government experience;
  • An interest in the field of Advanced Manufacturing and future mobility, with emphasis on and experience in the area of space and aerospace;
  • A university degree in a relevant field and proven commercial/economic and/or policy experience;
  • Experience in presenting to senior stakeholders in government and/or business;
  • Detailed knowledge of either the German or UK business environment;
  • Strong analytical and research skills including the ability to identify trends based on your own and 3rd party research;
  • Strong organisational skills and experience leading projects including events;
  • A demonstrable interest in business, trade and policy matters;
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and excels working as part of a team;
  • Self‑starter and ability to work well on own initiative;
  • Excellent IT skills, especially Excel, PowerPoint and modern CRM systems.
Desirable qualifications, skills and experience

Nice to have:

  • Experience and interest in other areas of the mobility sector (e.g. Automotive, Digitalisation, Automation, Cybersecurity).

Other benefits and conditions of employment

This is a full‑time (37.5 hours a week), fixed‑term 2‑year contract with the possibility of becoming a permanent contract subject to performance and funding. Salary € 68,556 – rising to a maximum of approx. € 77,009 – gross per annum after a qualifying period in addition to performance related pay (salary is not negotiable). Candidate must have pre‑existing work authorisation in Germany in order to apply.

Staff recruited locally by the British Consulate General are subject to Terms and Conditions of Service according to local German employment law. The successful candidate will be subject to professional background check, security clearance and 6 months probationary period.

Visa/work permit requirements: Candidates must currently hold the independent right to live and work in Germany and be prepared to ensure that right remains throughout the scope of the contract. Please note that it is your responsibility to ensure you meet the legal requirements to live and work in this country.
