Overview

Responsibilities
- Evaluation and interpretation of analytical data (GC, HPLC, etc).
- Interface function between production, quality assurance, and external partners
- Support in regulatory matters (e.g., GMP, ICH, FDA)
- Participation in international development projects
- Design, execution, and evaluation of process development and scale-up projects
- Development of mass balances, process simulations, and scale-up strategies to ensure robust technology transfer into manufacturing
- Optimization/development of chemical and purification processes with focus on yield, purity, and cost efficiency
- Support troubleshooting in production and provide technical solutions for process deviations
- Preparation of process documentation (development reports, SOPs, process descriptions) in line with GMP and regulatory standards
- Cross-functional collaboration with Production, Quality, Engineering, and external partners
- Guidance and technical support for junior scientists and technicians in experimental execution
Qualifications
- Degree in Chemical Engineering, Process Engineering, or Natural Sciences (e.g., Chemistry, Biochemistry, Pharmacy) — PhD or Master’s with relevant industrial experience
- Several years of professional experience in the pharmaceutical or chemical industry, particularly in R&D
- Familiarity with GMP and regulatory frameworks (ICH, FDA, EMA) is highly appreciated
- Analytical thinking, structured work style, team spirit, and strong communication skills
- Experience in DoE, process development, scale-up, and/or technology transfer within the pharmaceutical, chemical, or fine chemical industry
- Experience in chemical analytics (HPLC, GC, NMR, KF) is highly appreciated to support process understanding and troubleshooting
- Structured and solution-oriented working style, strong problem-solving skills, and team spirit
- Excellent communication skills in German and English
