Jobbeschreibung

We are an innovative aerospace startup seeking a Senior Flight Control System Engineer to join our team and who is curious about new technologies such as Autonomous operation and INDI control to develop our cutting‑edge drone technology. At Maple Aviation we develop a unique Tail‑Sitter Drone that flies with one propeller only and is controlled in position via a flap‑thrust‑vectoring. This role you will work closely with our research and development team to develop our Drone Flight Control System and test drone prototypes from concept to final production. You will utilize your skills in Flight Control System modeling, drafting and coding to create a Flight Control System that meets our performance requirements and also to lead and develop junior engineers.

Tasks
  • Design and program flight control algorithms for automatic and autonomous flight
  • Build models for flight dynamic processes and design control and feedback control laws
  • Prepare and execute flight tests with UAS systems
  • Analyze flight data recordings and evaluate and process test results
Results
  • Generate code using Matlab/Simulink and integrate it into the FCS / autopilot framework
  • Support the certification of our product family and obtain flight permits, e.g. for BVLOS flight projects
  • Collaborate in the further development of the product development process
Requirements
  • MA Sc. Dipl. in Mechanical, Aerospace, Robotics, Automotive, Electric Engineering or related field
  • 4 years of practical experience in flight control system modeling and coding
  • Excellent knowledge in flight mechanics, flight dynamic modeling, and control engineering, with practical experience with model aircraft, eVTOLs, multicopters and/or their subsystems
  • Excellent knowledge of programming with Matlab/Simulink; fluent handling of the programming language C; Git is also desirable
  • Experience with PX4 and interface management with on‑board data processing systems (e.g., chip processing of image sensor data) is a plus
  • Interest in model aircraft construction, drones or robotics and the desire to implement and try out new ideas
  • Highly self‑motivated, drives your area of responsibility forward independently and teaches new things that holistically improve our team and make it more efficient
  • International team communicating in English (other language skills are also an advantage)
