Next Ventures are currently executing a search for an experienced SAP D&S / DFPS Consultant.

SC or DV Clearance (or eligibility to obtain), depending on programme needs. (EU / UK passport holders)

12‑month contracts + extension (3‑year programme).

Overview

The SAP DFPS Functional Consultant is responsible for the design, configuration, deployment, and support of SAP’s Defence Forces & Public Security (DFPS) SAP D&S solution. The role involves working with defence organisations to optimise processes related to force planning, logistics, asset management, maintenance, materials management, and operational readiness, ensuring compliance with defence regulations and security standards.

Key Responsibilities

• Solution Design & Configuration
  • Conduct requirement‑gathering workshops with defence stakeholders (military, logistics, security teams).
  • Translate operational defence processes into SAP DFPS/D&S functionality.
  • Configure core DFPS components:
    • Force Element Structures (FES)
    • Organisational Flexibility (OrgFlex)
    • Personnel and Resource Management
    • Operations & Planning
    • Maintenance & Logistics (EAM, PM, MM)
    • Supply Chain Management for Defence
    • Classifications, Fleet & Equipment Management
  • Align DFPS solution with SAP S/4HANA (if applicable).
• Integration
  • Integrate DFPS/D&S with other modules:
    • SAP MM, PM, PP, QM, SD
    • SAP HR/HCM
    • SAP SRM, WM/EWM
  • Ensure compatibility with defence‑specific add‑ons and secure systems.
• Project Delivery
  • Participate in full lifecycle SAP implementations (blueprint → build → test → deploy → support).
  • Develop functional specifications for RICEFW (Reports, Interfaces, Conversions, Enhancements, Forms, Workflows).
  • Support Data Migration and Cutover activities.
  • Support User Acceptance Testing (UAT) and training for defence personnel.
• Security & Compliance
  • Ensure solutions meet government security classifications and compliance requirements.
  • Apply industry standards for defence logistics and force readiness reporting.
  • Work with cybersecurity teams to ensure secure design and role authorisation (SAP GRC, PFCG roles).
• Post‑Implementation Support
  • Provide Level 2/3 support for DFPS modules.
  • Resolve functional incidents and change requests.
  • Optimise the DFPS solution for operational readiness and fleet availability.

Key Skills & Experience

• Essential
  • 5+ years SAP functional experience (DFPS, PM, MM, Logistics).
  • Hands‑on experience with SAP DFPS/D&S configuration.
  • Strong understanding of defence logistics processes:
    • Readiness reporting
    • Equipment lifecycle management
    • Maintenance planning
    • Asset tracking & serialisation
    • Supply chain and provisioning
  • Experience in secure or classified project environments.
  • Ability to work with military terminology, structures, and operational models.
• Desirable
  • Experience with SAP S/4HANA Defence & Security.
  • Knowledge of MoD, NATO standards (e.g., ACodP‑1, LogFAS).
  • Familiarity with MoD or defence sector operations.
  • Background in E2E Military Logistics (MRO, fleet, armaments, uniform/equipment management).
  • SC/DV Security Clearance.
