Responsibilities
  • Independent research within the framework of the DFG project “Cultural Memory in Crisis” with an individual qualification project focusing on “Urban Memories in Post-Migrant Society”.
  • Presentation, discussion and publication of individual research results within the framework of the DFG project and at other scientific events.
  • Responsibility for teaching in the Research Master Studies of the DFG project (2 SWS).
  • Collaboration in the conception and organisation of an international conference (e.g. programme development, public relations, moderation).
  • Contribution to the DFG project’s transfer activities (including preparation of own research for transfer, communication with project members and external co‑researchers).
  • Support to the organisation and implementation of workshops and summer schools.
  • Support for the monthly colloquia of the “Urban Memories in Post‑Migrant Society” research unit.
  • Collaboration in the project council.
Qualifications
  • University degree (master’s level) and excellent doctoral degree in urban studies, urban history, spatial sociology, urban and cultural anthropology, geography, urban planning, architecture or a comparable discipline.
  • Research experience in the field of cultural memory, urbanity and/or post‑migrant society.
  • Ideally, knowledge of archival work and urban space analysis.
  • Knowledge of planning and conducting academic courses.
  • Experience in event management (e.g. organisation of scientific conferences, workshops or curatorial projects) is an advantage.
  • Ideally, experience as a research assistant at a university, university of applied sciences, or other research institution.
  • Ideally, experience with academic committee work.
  • Confident use of common MS Office programmes.
  • Very good German and English skills.
  • Reliability and a careful, analytical and cooperative approach to work.
