Qualifikationen

  • Basic to intermediate knowledge of Microsoft 365; experience with Azure AD, Exchange Online, SharePoint, or Teams is a plus.

Your mission

As a Junior IT System Administrator, you will support the operation, maintenance, and ongoing development of XU University’s IT infrastructure. This role is ideal for early-career IT professionals who are eager to build a solid foundation in system administration and cloud-based IT environments.

Working closely with the IT team, you will help ensure reliable, secure, and efficient IT services for staff, lecturers, and students. At the same time, you will continuously expand your technical expertise and professional skills in a dynamic academic environment.

  • Support the administration, monitoring, and maintenance of the university’s IT infrastructure and systems
  • Assist in the configuration and management of Microsoft 365, including Azure Active Directory, Exchange Online, SharePoint, and Microsoft Teams
  • Ensure stable and reliable IT operations for academic and administrative users
  • Support the implementation and documentation of IT security and data protection measures in line with internal policies
  • Handle technical onboarding and offboarding, including user accounts, devices, permissions, and access rights
  • Manage IT assets, licenses, and hardware inventory, and support procurement, setup, and lifecycle management of devices
  • Provide first-level support and assist with second-level support, troubleshooting hardware, software, and access-related issues
  • Maintain and improve internal systems and platforms, such as collaboration tools, campus systems, or CRM/LMS solutions
  • Create and maintain technical documentation, system overviews, and process descriptions
  • Participate in small infrastructure, automation, and digitalization projects
  • Collaborate with internal departments and support coordination with external IT service providers
Your profile
  • Completed vocational training, a degree, or comparable qualification in Computer Science, Business Informatics, IT, or a related field
  • 0–1 year of practical experience in IT support, system administration, or a similar role (internships count)
  • Basic to intermediate knowledge of Microsoft 365; experience with Azure AD, Exchange Online, SharePoint, or Teams is a plus
  • Confident working with Windows and macOS environments
  • Basic understanding of SaaS platforms, web technologies, and databases, or strong willingness to learn
  • Structured and solution-oriented approach to troubleshooting
  • Interest in IT security, access management, and system stability
  • Comfortable creating technical documentation and working with ticketing or asset management tools
  • Basic knowledge of IT service management (e.g., ITIL) is an advantage but not required
  • Good English skills: German is an advantage but not mandatory
