Jobbeschreibung

Enabler for smaller, more powerful, and more energy-efficient microchips

Working for tomorrow today.

Around 80 percent of all microchips worldwide are produced using ZEISS technologies. As the centerpiece of every electronically controlled system, they have become an integral part of our everyday lives – whether in smartphones, smart homes or smart factories. ZEISS is a technology leader in the field of semiconductor manufacturing equipment. With high-precision lithography optics, photomask systems and process control solutions, ZEISS enables the production of ever smaller, increasingly powerful, and more energy-efficient microchips, and thus plays a pivotal role in the age of micro- and nanoelectronics.

But what would lithography optics be without the electronics and software that control them? Achieving the required imaging precision would be impossible. The control electronics of a lithography optic, in combination with the associated sensors and actuators, ensure that the optical elements are aligned with extreme precision in a closed control loop up to tens of thousands of times per second – enabling the necessary precision in the exposure process.

Our work in the Product Electronics and Product Software departments focuses on all areas of electronics development: analog and digital hardware development, real-time and non-real-time software development, FPGA design and verification, as well as electrical design. We cover all steps from requirements management, design, prototype development, and testing to industrialization.

If you are ready for exciting and challenging tasks that allow you to shape the future of tomorrow, join us at our Oberkochen site and take on the following responsibilities. This position is also available on a part-time basis.

Your Role
  • Develop and architect FPGA designs with a focus on implementing signal processing algorithms and high-speed systems
  • Analyze system requirements and derive FPGA architectures, including the definition of interfaces and modules
  • Design, implement, and verify FPGA firmware in VHDL, with a focus on high-precision signal processing and real-time capability
  • Optimize FPGA designs for performance, latency, and resource utilization
  • Develop concepts for high-speed data transmission and integrate FPGA-based systems into the overall architecture
  • Support the definition and implementation of platform concepts for reusable FPGA modules.
  • Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams, including hardware, software, and systems engineers, to integrate FPGA designs into overall systems
  • Create and maintain technical documentation, and assist in defining verification and testing strategies
  • Promote knowledge sharing and the development of standards and methods in FPGA design
Your Profile
  • Successfully completed studies in electrical engineering, communications engineering, computer science, or a comparable field
  • Experience in developing FPGA designs, ideally in the area of signal processing and high-speed systems
  • Solid knowledge of FPGA programming with VHDL, as well as simulation and verification of designs
  • Experience with FPGA development tools (e.g., Xilinx Vivado, Intel Quartus) and verification methods (e.g., ModelSim, QuestaSim, OSVVM)
  • Knowledge of implementing high-speed interfaces (e.g., PCIe, DDR, Ethernet) and optimizing FPGA designs
  • Understanding of signal processing algorithms and their implementation in FPGA hardware
  • Proficiency in German and English, both written and spoken
  • High level of initiative, teamwork skills, and willingness to delve into complex technical contexts
  • Enthusiasm for developing innovative solutions and working in a high-tech environment
