Job Description:
Mission Essential is seeking a Data Scientist/Program Manager to lead a new initiative supporting the U.S. Department of Defense (DoD) in Germany. This program will deliver critical engineering and technical support services, with a focus on advanced data science and engineering solutions. Duties include but are not limited to:
- Perform Project Management-oriented tasks and manage a team of 9 personnel:
- Create and maintain sprint plans showing timelines, risks, and constraints.
- Lead Data Scientists, including assigning specific roles and responsibilities on sprints.
- Facilitate communication between teams within the DAG as well as 21st TSC MSC and staff section stakeholders.
- Monitor the execution of sprints and report progress to DAG leadership in daily Scrums.
- Provide technical oversight and mentorship to project staff.
- Prepare and deliver project briefings, reports, and technical documentation.
- Ensure timely delivery of high-quality technical solutions aligned with government requirements.
- Analyze data sets for purposes ranging from descriptive to predictive across multiple platforms including but not limited to Palantir, TDP, Microsoft, Advana, and various Cloud Platforms:
- Configure data pipelines within and across various data platforms leveraging existing connections and establishing connections with APIs.
- Leverage existing low-code/no-code capabilities within the data platform to create decision support tools.
- Configure Python/SQL/R code to create decision support tools.
- Enhance and expand the configuration of advanced analytical models using AI and ML:
- Create and configure historical datasets of pertinent parameters across multiple data platforms.
- Create and leverage existing mathematical models using historical datasets.
- Provide real-time combat power, sustainment, and readiness forecasting:
- Analyze resources including personnel, equipment, training, logistical support.
- Analyze external factors including terrain, weather, capabilities of potential adversaries.
- Use resource and external factors analyses and previous forecasts to forecast combat power, sustainment, and readiness.
- Document code, APIs, and system architecture for future reference and team collaboration.
- Conduct and support organizational/internal training on tools designed to enable accurate adoption within the command.
Job Requirements:
- Experience requirements can be met with:
- Twenty-three (23) years of experience working with the DoD in a technical and program/project management capacity.
- Bachelor's degree in a technical or physical science field AND eighteen (18) years of experience working with the DoD in a technical capacity.
- Master's degree in a technical or physical science field AND sixteen (16) years of experience working with the DoD in a technical capacity.
- PhD in a technical or physical science field AND ten (10) years of experience working with the DoD in a technical capacity.
