TYTAN is a young deep-tech defense startup that develops a cost-effective counter-drone solution to protect people and critical infrastructure. We are an international team of ambitious engineers who combine expertise in autonomous systems and UAV design. We are looking for a Chief Engineer to lead and scale our software engineering organization. As Chief Engineer, you will act as the technical backbone of the software organization and a sparring partner to the CTO, ensuring strong engineering practices, cross-team alignment, and delivery excellence. You will shape how teams work, define engineering standards, guide architectural decisions, and ensure synergies across robotics, autonomy, and software platforms.
Who you are
- 5–10 years of experience in software engineering, with a strong technical foundation.
- Previous hands-on experience as a robotics, or software developer for mechatronic systems.
- Proven experience leading software engineering teams or acting as a technical leader across multiple teams.
- Strong understanding of how engineering teams function and how to scale them effectively.
- Comfortable making technical and organizational decisions while remaining hands-on.
- You enjoy mentoring, reviewing, designing, and guiding your team.
- Motivated by building teams, processes, and organizations—not just products.

Your roadmap to make an impact
Technical & Engineering Leadership
- Provide technical leadership across all software engineering teams, ensuring architectural consistency and technical excellence.
- Lead and oversee cross‑team and integration projects across robotics and software systems.
- Remain hands‑on by contributing to system design, critical integrations, reviews, and complex problem‑solving.
Organization & Team Building
- Build, scale, and mentor high‑performing software engineering teams.
- Ensure healthy communication, strong engineering culture and collaboration across functional teams.
Engineering Methodology & Standards
- Define and evolve engineering methodologies, coding standards, testing strategies, quality guidelines and development workflows.
- Balance pragmatism and rigor—enabling teams to move fast while maintaining quality.
Strategy & Roadmap
- Contribute to and help execute the software engineering roadmap in alignment with company strategy.
- Ensure technical decisions support scalability, maintainability, and long‑term growth.
