Indigenous Education Support Worker

Rocky Mountain School District 6 is seeking an Indigenous Education Support Worker for a permanent, part-time (0.5 FTE) position at McKim Middle School, effective September 2, 2025.

The Indigenous Education Support Worker, a responsible and respected member of the school staff, will contribute to the strategic goals of both the District and the school. This will be accomplished through collaboration with District and school administrators, Indigenous partners, staff, students, families, and community services.

1. Act as a liaison between school and family/community to support Indigenous students' success.
2. Collaborate with the School Based Team to support Indigenous learners.
3. Support school staff and students in Truth and Reconciliation efforts and Calls to Action.
4. Facilitate data collection for strategies and interventions for Indigenous students.
5. Support capacity building in Indigenous teaching and learning concepts.
6. Lead and role model leadership in various activities.
7. Serve as a liaison with community agencies, Indigenous partners, and families.
8. Encourage student achievement, attendance, healthy lifestyles, and celebrate successes.
9. Assist with progress reports, intervention plans, IEP development, and student data gathering.
10. Maintain current information in Student Information Systems.
11. Facilitate transition planning for students.
12. Assist with referrals to school and community resources.
13. Support social, emotional, academic, physical, and cultural needs of Indigenous students.
14. Foster positive connections with families and encourage participation.
15. Attend parent-teacher and student-led conferences and meetings.
16. Support culturally appropriate school-wide activities.
17. Participate in District meetings and communities of practice.
18. Collaborate with District staff and administration.
19. Perform other responsibilities as assigned by the principal.

1. Completion of an Indigenous Education Support Worker diploma or equivalent qualification.
2. Diploma or Degree in Indigenous Studies, Education, Social Work, or relevant experience working with Indigenous students in K-12.
3. Valid driver's license.
