The Fitness Centre Assistant is responsible for maintaining a clean, safe, and welcoming environment in the fitness facility. This position involves customer service, general maintenance, equipment monitoring, and ensuring all patrons follow gym rules and safety guidelines.
- Assist with registration of new fitness centre users.
- Assist with supervision of the fitness center and conduct inventory checks on a regular basis.
- Assist with general maintenance and cleaning of the fitness centre.
- Assist with general maintenance and cleaning of the Recreational Park next to the fitness centre.
- Ensure participants of the fitness centre follow the rules of the facility and using equipment safely.
- Responsible for tracking fitness center statistics and volunteer hours.
- Create opportunities for incorporating the Ojibway language and culture into the facility and the programming occurring at the facility.
- Facilitate fitness centre orientation sessions to increase confidence and competency within fitness centre participants, assist community members with their workout that may require additional support.
- Must have, or be willing to obtain First Aid, WHIMIS, & Health and Safety in 4 Steps.
- Priority will be given to post-secondary students within the health, fitness, recreational leadership or human services fields.
- Knowledge of and respect for Anishnawbek values, teachings, culture, and traditions is of critical importance.
- Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, internet and email software’s.
- Able to work with minimum supervision.
- Must be able to be physically active on a regular basis.
- Current CPR and First Aid Certification .
- Valid drivers license for on the job use.
- Must be able to work flexible hours.
