A regional healthcare authority is seeking a Palliative Care Psychosocial Consultant to provide expert consultation and leadership in palliative and end-of-life care. This role involves collaboration with interdisciplinary teams, conducting psychosocial assessments, and contributing to quality improvement initiatives. Candidates must possess a Master's in Social Work and have recent experience in palliative care, along with a valid BC driver's license.
In accordance with the Vision, Purpose, and Values, and strategic direction of Vancouver Island Health Authority (Island Health), patient and staff safety is a priority and a responsibility shared by everyone; as such, the requirement to continuously improve quality and safety is inherent in all aspects of this position.
Reporting to the Manager of Palliative and End of Life Care (P&EOLC), and as a member of the P&EOLC specialty consult team, the Palliative Care Psychosocial Consultant provides consultation and collaborates with interdisciplinary teams across the care continuum to achieve excellence in psychosocial palliative and end of life care. This will be accomplished through clinical consultation, practice support, education, assessments, counselling interventions and evaluating services. The Palliative Care Psychosocial Consultant will provide leadership and initiative on psychosocial care through research, education, resource and program development, mentorship, and advocacy. Records appropriate client information and collects required program statistics. Maintains knowledge of, and contributes to, current theory and practice in Palliative and End of Life Care.
Travel may be a requirement of this position. Transportation arrangements must meet the operational requirements of the Island Health in accordance with the service assignment and may require the use of a personal vehicle; and Valid BC Driver's License.
