About the Opportunity

As a key member of the health care team, the Unit Aide reports directly to the Health Services Manager. The key responsibilities include: Ordering and maintaining supplies with the budget in mind. Stocking and cleaning clinic rooms. Ordering and stocking paperwork in clinics (such as pre-printed orders, forms, and patient education). Cleaning equipment and work areas according to Infection Control guidelines. Care and handling of sterile items. Supporting Patient care activities (may include patient transfer/transport). WHMIS and workplace safety standards. Ensuring all repairs, assisting with departmental renovations and moves. Act as team player and provide assistance to clinicians and patients and liaise with other support services such as biomed, maintenance, purchasing customer service, sales representatives, housekeeping, sterile processing department and infection control. Assist with patient and clinic flow.

About You

We would love to hear from you if you have the following:

  • Grade XII or equivalent
  • Previous clinic aide experience preferred
  • Knowledge of medical terminology an asset
  • Understands and adheres to unit and hospital policies and procedures
  • Demonstrated ability to follow directions
  • Understands the importance of cleanliness in a hospital
  • Able to establish good relationships with people
  • Demonstrated effective communication and interpersonal skills
  • Current certification in WHIMIS
  • Basic knowledge of infection control
  • Prior experience ordering and stocking supplies
  • Good judgment and demonstrated initiative
  • Collaborative team player
  • Competencies in other languages an asset, French preferred

Hours
  • Permanent Part-time (90%), 67.5 hours bi-weekly
  • Shifts are day shifts, Monday- Friday
Compensation and Incentives

$20.03 - $21.58 Hourly

Successful candidates may be eligible for our benefits package which includes health, dental, travel, long-term disability, and life insurance coverage as well as a defined benefit pension plan.
