Title: Technical Product Analyst (Capital Markets)

Global Banking and Markets Engineering (GBME) is the fast-moving, award-winning technology engine that powers Scotiabank’s Corporate, Investment Banking, and Capital Markets businesses.

GBME is searching for a Technical Product Analyst to liaison between business stakeholders and internal engineering and architect teams, ensuring solutions are developed and delivered on time, efficiently and with high quality for various projects within GBME.

The successful candidate will have a results-oriented and curious mindset with strong technical skills. You will work closely with cross functional teams, including engineers, solutions architects, and business teams to develop and implement market leading solutions that are scalable and deliver excellence, and value to our business partners and customers.

In this role you will:

  • Demonstrate an informed knowledge of business functions to resolve problems and capitalize on improvement opportunities.
  • Ensure business specifications/requirements documentation is accurately prepared and comprehensive to support sizing/development efforts and as input to various project documentation.
  • Develop and deliver Business Requirements Documents, Design Documents, Use Cases, and Process Models as required.
  • Work closely across GBME technology teams during all stages of the system development life cycle and bridge the gap between business and technology sides of the solution.
  • Liaise between the business community and the IT organization to provide technical solutions that meet user needs.
  • Build relationships and communicate effectively with colleagues in Global regions.
  • Support production issues and handle escalations during Release cycles as needed.
  • Perform ad hoc work as needed.

Do you have the skills that will enable you to succeed in this role?

  • Experience working across multiple teams and functions to ensure alignment.
  • 4+ years practical experience and product business knowledge in capital markets.
  • Experience working with all phases of SDLC (Software Development Life Cycle).
  • Experience with Jira, Confluence delivery tracking and documentation software.
  • Scripting with Python or other scripting languages, SQL.
  • Ability to adapt quickly to new processes and standards, with a strong commitment to providing exceptional customer service.
  • Proven ability to translate business requirements into technical specifications and deliver working results.
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
  • A recognized undergraduate degree or diploma in business administration, computer science or related field required.
  • Experience with data flow, sequence diagramming, other software diagramming models is an asset.
  • Excellent working experience of Microsoft suite of products (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Project).
  • Repo trading (fixed income repos, securities lending)
  • Trade lifecycle (rerates, substitutions, partials, swing/meta trades)
  • Regulatory reporting (CIRO, SFTR)
  • Data mapping and vendor management
  • MQ messaging to settlement systems (ADP, GLOSS, IMPACT)
  • ECN connectivity (Bloomberg, BTEC, Tradeweb, GLMX)
  • Platform familiarity (ION trade chains, publishers, gateways, STP components)
