Job summary

A municipal organization is seeking enthusiastic Golf Services staff to assist with equipment rentals and customer service at the Thunder Bay golf course. Responsibilities include janitorial tasks, maintaining golf carts, and providing excellent customer relations. Candidates should have knowledge of golf and prior customer service experience. The role requires effective communication skills and the ability to work outdoors in various conditions. A valid Ontario G2 driver's license is mandatory.

Job description
POSITION SUMMARY:

Under the general supervision of the Supervisor – Golf Services responsible for all rental equipment such as power carts and pull carts, provides janitorial services inside and outside of the clubhouse, and assists the Clerk as required.

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Picks up golf balls manually and using a motorized golf cart.
  • Loads ball dispenser.
  • Assists customers as required (public relations).
  • Moves tee markers on range.
  • Performs light janitorial duties.
  • Cleans equipment.
  • Marshals golf carts.
  • Assists clerk, starter, and ranger as required.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Education/Experience:
  • Previous experience working/volunteering on a golf course an asset.
  • Knowledge and experience with the game of golf an asset.
  • Previous customer service experience an asset.
Skills & Abilities:
  • Must be able to communicate effectively both orally and in writing.
  • Must be highly motivated and work well in a team environment.
  • Must be able to work with minimal supervision.
  • Superior customer service skills and the ability to deal with the public in a courteous and tactful manner.
  • Must possess and maintain a valid Class “G2” Ontario Drivers Licence, or equivalent.
  • Must meet the definition of a competent driver as defined by the Corporation.
CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT:
  • Must be able to work outdoors in adverse conditions.
  • Must be available for weekdays and weekends as required.
  • Must remain a competent driver as defined by the Corporation.
  • May be required to provide a successful driver’s abstract.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
  • This position requires constant standing/walking; frequent squatting/kneeling, and lifting up to and including 25kg bags of fertilizer.
