Job description
Student Employee - Campus Rec & Student Life (Penticton)

Okanagan College hires the best-qualified candidates for its positions. Selections for bargaining unit positions are conducted in accordance with the provisions of the appropriate Collective Agreement. All qualified candidates are encouraged to apply; Canadians and permanent residents will be given priority. Priority will be given to students who demonstrate financial need.

Under the Letter of Understanding #1 – Student Employees, and in direct supervision of the Athletics, Recreation and Student Life Coordinator and the Regional Deans, the Student Employee will assist with Campus Life events and facilities management.

Responsibilities
  • Assisting in promoting student life events by posting and removing posters & advertisements, taking admission fees, and distributing event tickets.
  • Assisting in organizing supplies and placing promotional materials on tables.
  • Performing event greeting duties including taking tickets, handing out programs, greeting guests, performers, and speakers.
  • Assisting with event hosting set‑up and take‑down.
  • Assisting in promoting student involvement by gathering feedback from students about Athletics, Recreation and Student Life activities.
  • Cleaning the fitness facility equipment.
  • Ensuring staff and students adhere to the rules and regulations of the facility.
Qualifications
  • Enrolled in a post‑secondary program at Okanagan College.
  • Prior work experience is an asset.
  • Proficiency in a variety of computer software applications.
  • Works effectively both independently and as part of a team with an aptitude for a collegial environment.
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills.
  • Well‑developed organizational skills; detail‑oriented.
