Overview

Ocean Steel and Construction Limited (OSCO) is a member of the OSCO Construction Group. Ocean Steel designs, fabricates and erects structural steel for buildings and bridges, and manufactures and installs platework such as breechings, stacks, ducts, penstocks, process and storage tanks and custom process equipment. Ocean Steel operates two modern plants in Saint John and Fredericton, New Brunswick, with sales offices in Saint John, NB, and Burlington, MA. This role focuses on ensuring products meet quality standards and customer specifications throughout production, with collaboration across departments and shop personnel.

Responsibilities
  • Daily inspection of all aspects of structural steel fabrication, including visual weld inspection, dimensional checks, surface preparation and coatings inspection, incoming inspection, filing, and bolting
  • Ensure all steel quality standards are met
  • Routinely inspect welds, dimensions and surfaces
  • Collaborate with manufacturing professionals during production to approve the quality of raw materials before manufacturing begins
  • Provide final in-depth inspection once production is complete
  • Sign off and approve final product before it leaves the plant
  • Identify and correct faults in materials and the manufacturing process
  • Test performance of completed products to ensure they meet quality standards and recommendations as needed
Technical Requirements
  • Certified Welding Inspector (CSA W178.2) by the Canadian Welding Bureau (CWB)
  • Welding and/or steel fabrication background
  • Experience with quality systems (AISC, ISO)
  • Coatings inspection and AMPP/NACE certification would be definite assets
