General Accountabilities
  • Support the Corporate Controller’s objective of maintaining financial integrity, compliance and effective financial reporting and internal control
Specific Accountabilities
  • Maintain the general ledger, including chart of accounts, review of account balances, reconciliations and account structures, implementation of system changes and enhancements.
  • Manage and successfully execute the monthly and quarterly close and reporting processes, including the timely and accurate issuance of appropriate management reports.
  • Support the corporate consolidation of multiple entities, reconciling and investigating intercompany differences and acting as an administrator of the SAP consolidation module.
  • Ensure appropriate recording and reporting of the pension and benefit entitlements as well as other corporate accruals.
  • Provide quarterly variance analysis to the external auditors on key financial statement lines.
  • Maintain appropriate internal control policies and develop procedures as required.
  • Ensure requirements are effectively communicated to business units and monitor compliance.
  • Follow‑up to ensure that guidance on the application of generally accepted accounting has been followed within the company.
  • Support regulatory requirements, including preparation of evidence, development of briefing material, responses to interrogatories and transcript undertakings and general hearing support.
  • Effectively collaborate and liaise with other members of the Finance team, IT, internal audit and other relevant lines of business to ensure achievement of the overall strategy.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Selection Criteria
  • Requires a broad and deep knowledge of finance, financial reporting, accounting, internal control and governance and process design.
  • This knowledge is normally acquired through a four‑year undergraduate university degree in business, commerce or economics with an accounting or finance major and a professional designation such as CPA or other relevant professional business designation.
  • 8 – 10 years relevant experience in accounting and financial reporting at an intermediate level.
  • Excellent written/oral communication skills, with proven ability and experience communicating to a broad range of audiences (internal and external).
  • Knowledge of and experience in a rate‑regulated environment is highly desirable.
