Course Code: KPE321H: Population Health

Course description: This course explores patterns of health and illness among groups (populations) of people. Emphasis is on the determinants of health (social political, economic and environmental etc.). Students will learn about basic research methods and issues in the field. Current examples of major local and global health concerns will be used to illustrate key concepts.

Estimated TA support: 1 TA @ 70 hrs = 70 hrs

Class schedule: T 13:00-16:00 R 13:00-16:00

Sessional dates of appointment: May 1, 2026 - June 30, 2026

Appointment percentage: 0.5 FCE

Salary: Sessional Lecturer I - $9,820.70; Sessional Lecturer I – Long Term - $10,510.04; Sessional Lecturer II - $10,510.04; Sessional Lecturer II – Long Term - $10,760.28; Sessional Lecturer III - $10,760.28; Sessional Lecturer III – Long Term - $11,030.35

Responsibilities

Description of duties: All duties associated with the design and teaching of a university credit course, including preparation and delivery of course content; development, administration, and marking of assignments, tests, and exams; calculation and submission of grades; holding regular office hours; supervising TAs assigned to the course, if applicable. This course will be taught online.
