Title: Senior Technical Professional Leader - Process

The role will have direct responsibility for the study, design, and specification of equipment, piping and instrumentation related to processing plants such as oil and gas production (onshore and offshore), LNG facilities, ammonia, ethylene, organic chemicals and refined products as well as working in projects in the energy transition field such as hydrogen and biofuels. Projects within KBR vary from small scale studies through to large EPC projects across a wide range of technologies and you could be expected to work on a diverse range of project phases across different process technologies.

As a senior technical leader, you will guide, mentor, and oversee a team of process engineers based in Baku. Your role will involve setting the technical direction for the group, fostering professional growth among junior engineers, and ensuring high standards of engineering excellence. You will also be responsible for planning, budgeting, organising, and managing the process team for large-scale projects.

The position is based in KBR’s Baku execution center. Flexible working can be discussed.

Job Responsibilities
  • Managing a team of process engineers you will advise, and contribute to the following:
  • Managing workhour budgets and resources on a project.
  • Providing technical expertise to projects.
  • Ensure project scope is understood and monitor change effectively
  • Leading the development of concepts from client specifications.
  • Adding value to the project through efficient management of time, resources and effective decision making.
  • Supporting and producing deliverables to meet client and company expectations of quality.
  • Review or support the production of process simulations to produce heat and material balances, process and utility flow diagrams, and process conceptual, FEED or EPC design deliverables.
  • Liaison with licensors, other discipline engineers, project management and client.
  • Support proposals and have an understanding of planning projects.
Skills / Experience

Essential

  • Experience communicating across a multi-discipline team and across different offices.
  • Understanding of requirements of other disciplines as part of project execution.
  • Experience of workhour control and working to schedule and within budget on a major project.
  • Good organizational skills
  • Have an understanding of project safety requirements, international standards and implications on design
  • Have a good understanding of process control and implementation in design
  • Have the ability to make practical design decisions which add value to a design and minimize negative impact to other disciplines, schedule or cost
  • Developing presentations and experience communicating with client team
  • Understanding of development of proposals for new projects
  • Must be able to drive quality within the process team and ensure high standards are met
  • Experience taking a leading role in a safety review (HazOp/SIL/LOPA)
  • Strong written communication skills and experience of writing technical reports.
  • Self-motivated and a good communication skills to enable effective team working.
  • Experience of working on conceptual, pre-FEED, FEED and/or EPC projects
  • Act as a focal point for all key process engineering decisions and build a good relationship with client.
  • Practical experience on a project of managing change
Desirable
  • Experience managing a team of 10+ process engineers
  • Experience managing a process manhour budget of >24000hours
  • Experience training/mentoring younger engineers either informally or through a formal training scheme
  • Experience presenting in formal settings
  • Experience building relationships with licensors and clients
Qualifications
  • BSc degree in Chemical Engineering or equivalent
  • A relevant number of years' experience working with a major EPC contractor or operator.
