The Opportunity

OurNuclearsubsector, a key component of WSP’s ERI (Energy, Resources and Industry) sector, supports clients in the nuclear industry. Our team offers a wide range of services, including technical and feasibility studies, project management, detailed design, procurement, site management, quality surveillance, commissioning and asset management. This division is operating at an exciting time as nuclear power and new technology solutions are developing globally, with Canada as a leader in nuclear refurbishments, nuclear new builds, incredible capital projects portfolios and a deep history in nuclear supply chain.

WSP is currently seeking an experienced Senior Project Planner/Scheduler (Nuclear) to join one of Ontario offices. This position will likely require travel within the GTA and surrounding areas, Tiverton, Pickering areas on a regular basis.

The Senior Project Planner / Scheduler will play a key role in supporting project managers with planning, scheduling, change management, project monitoring, and controls reporting—specifically within the context of nuclear and high-complexity energy projects. This hands-on role is critical in establishing and maintaining a Performance Measurement Baseline (PMB) and tracking progress across all phases of nuclear infrastructure programs. The ideal candidate will bring deep experience in nuclear project environments, including regulatory awareness, long-duration lifecycle planning, and integration of engineering, procurement, and construction (EPC) activities. You will also support proposal development with nuclear-specific scheduling insights and scenario modeling.As part of WSP’s national ERI (Energy, Resources & Industry) group, you’ll work on some of Canada’s most complex nuclear initiatives, gaining exposure to refurbishment, decommissioning, and new build programs. You’ll be mentored by industry leaders and fast-track your development toward becoming a senior project controls analyst, with potential for PMP certification.

What you can expect to do here
  • Lead full lifecycle planning for EP/EPCM/EPC nuclear projects
  • Facilitate interactive planning sessions to establish PMBs tailored to nuclear scope
  • Develop and maintain detailed schedules, including regulatory milestones and licensing phases
  • Perform resource loading/leveling and critical path analysis for nuclear deliverables
  • Support proposal teams with nuclear-specific planning and scheduling inputs
  • Mentor junior staff in nuclear scheduling best practices
  • Integrate client schedules with EPC timelines, ensuring alignment with nuclear safety and compliance standards
  • Identify and model schedule impacts related to licensing delays, outage windows, and regulatory reviews
  • Collaborate with project managers to develop “what-if” scenarios for nuclear scope changes
  • Define WBS and generate master schedule baselines for engineering, procurement, and construction activities
  • Track and report risks specific to nuclear operations, including regulatory and environmental factors
  • Maintain risk register and support mitigation planning for nuclear-related schedule threats
What you’ll bring to WSP
  • Advanced proficiency in Primavera P6, with hands-on experience in nuclear project scheduling
  • Strong understanding of Earned Value Management principles in regulated environments
  • Minimum 10 years’ experience in planning/scheduling for nuclear, power generation, or heavy industrial projects
  • Familiarity with Canadian nuclear regulatory frameworks (e.g., CNSC milestones) is a strong asset
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Experience with Oracle systems and Power BI is an asset
  • Proven ability to manage multiple priorities and deliver high-quality outputs under pressure
  • Detail-oriented with a proactive approach to risk and change management
  • MUST be able to pass Security Clearance
