Job summary

AgeCare in Ajax, Ontario is seeking a Recreation Worker to plan, develop and run meaningful recreation and leisure activities that promote wellbeing and community. You will facilitate both planned and spontaneous opportunities to support residents’ skills, relationships and personal connections, in a home setting.

Applicants should have a post-secondary diploma or degree in recreation and leisure studies or related field, and experience working with seniors.

Qualifications

• Prior experience with seniors in long-term care preferred.
• Post-secondary qualification in recreation and leisure studies or related field.
• Enrollment in a related program with planned completion within three years.

Responsibilities

• Plan, develop and run a variety of recreation activities.
• Facilitate planned and spontaneous opportunities to support resident skills and relationships.
• Create engaging spaces and communicate with residents and their families.
• Participate in program evaluation and quality improvement processes.
