Job summary

AgeCare is seeking a Recreation Worker to plan, develop and run meaningful recreation and leisure activities for residents in our long-term care homes across Canada. You will support resident wellbeing by creating engaging spaces, coordinating activities with residents, families, volunteers and community groups, and documenting participation.

The role emphasizes wellness across all domains, teamwork with care staff, and ongoing program evaluation to improve quality of life for seniors.

Qualifications

• Experience working with seniors, preferably in a long-term care setting.
• Graduate with a diploma/degree in recreation and leisure studies or therapeutic recreation.
• Enrolled in a related program with intent to complete within 3 years of hire.
• Post-secondary degree or diploma in a health-care related field with demonstrated skills in recreation and leisure services.

Responsibilities

• Plan, develop, and run daily recreation activities in home and community.
• Create engaging spaces that support resident activity and participation.
• Maintain communications with residents, families, volunteers and community groups.
• Observe changes in residents' ability and update plans of care as needed.
• Lead programs and participate in program evaluation and quality improvement.
