Job summary

AgeCare seeks a Recreation Worker to plan, develop, and run meaningful recreation and leisure activities that promote wellbeing and community connection. You will facilitate opportunities to support residents' skills and relationships, in both home and community settings.

In this role, you will assist in daily programming, create engaging spaces, and maintain strong communications with residents, families, volunteers, and agencies.

Qualifications

• Prior experience working with seniors in long-term care.
• Graduate with diploma/degree in recreation and leisure studies or related field.
• Enrollment in a related program with intent to complete within three years.
• Experience planning and facilitating wellness activities and meaningful recreation.

Responsibilities

• Develop and run daily recreation and leisure activities in home and community.
• Create and maintain engaging spaces/environments for resident activity.
• Communicate with residents and families, volunteers and community groups.
• Observe, report and document changes in residents' ability to participate, update care plans as needed.
• Support other departments to promote resident engagement and contribute to quality improvement.
