Job summary

AgeCare is seeking a dedicated Recreation Aide to plan, deliver and evaluate resident-centered programs in Alberta. You will work with the Recreation Manager and Executive Director to create engaging activities that support social connection and well-being.

You bring a Diploma in Recreation or related field, experience with seniors is a plus, strong interpersonal and English communication skills, and the ability to document activities and coordinate transportation when needed.

Qualifications

• Diploma in Recreation, Leisure Studies, Gerontology or related field (required) or equivalent combo.
• Experience with seniors in recreation, health care or community setting is an asset.
• Strong interpersonal skills and ability to build connections with residents and team.
• Excellent written and verbal English communication with residents, families and staff.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint).
• Compassionate, energetic, collaborative team player focused on resident-centered care.
• Valid driver’s license to transport residents and operate facility vehicles per provincial rules.
• Current Vulnerable Sector Check and Criminal Record Check, or willingness to obtain.

Responsibilities

• Assist in planning, coordination, and delivery of recreation and leisure programs with Recreation Manager and Executive Director.
• Create welcoming, inclusive environment to encourage resident participation and well‑being.
• Support resident assessments and evaluate engagement, preferences and program effectiveness.
• Maintain accurate documentation including participation records, program notes and charting.
• Build and maintain positive relationships with residents, families, volunteers and interdisciplinary team.
• Facilitate participation in programs, events and outings, including transportation support as required.
• Contribute to daily program prep and delivery while supporting meal service and resident routines.
