Job summary

AgeCare Ltd. is seeking a Recreation Team Member to facilitate planned and spontaneous opportunities that help residents maintain or develop skills, promoting wellbeing, purpose, creativity, lifelong learning and fun.

You will build relationships to learn resident interests, plan and lead activities across wellness domains, and provide leadership to the team while fostering family and community partnerships.

Qualifications

• Post-secondary degree or diploma in recreation and leisure studies or related field, or enrollment in such program to complete within 3 years.
• Post-secondary degree or diploma in a health care related field with recreation/ leisure experience in health care setting.
• Experience planning, developing and facilitating meaningful activities across wellness domains.
• Experience with assessment, care planning and related documentation.
• Knowledge of therapeutic programming techniques and approaches.
• Application of recreation and leisure principles in long-term care or health care.
• Passion for working with seniors and improving lives through engagement.
• Excellent communication, organization and computer skills.
• Experience with Point Click Care, Activity Pro and Microsoft Office is an asset.

Responsibilities

• Build relationships to learn about the unique interests and needs of each resident.
• Develop, plan and lead recreation and leisure activities spanning all wellness dimensions.
• Provide leadership and support to all team members to promote meaningful resident engagement.
• Foster partnerships with families and within the community to enhance engagement opportunities.
• Complete assessments and required documentation and participate in quality improvement processes.
