Job summary

AgeCare is seeking a Recreation Worker to plan and run a range of meaningful recreation and leisure activities for residents in our long-term care setting. You will promote wellbeing, creativity, and community through planned and spontaneous programs.

Ideal candidates have prior experience with seniors and hold a post-secondary diploma in recreation and leisure studies or a related field, or are enrolled in a program with expected completion within three years.

Qualifications

• Prior experience working with seniors; long-term care experience preferred.
• Graduate of a post-secondary diploma or degree in recreation and leisure studies, or related field.
• Enrolled in a related program with intent to complete within three years.

Responsibilities

• Plan, develop, and run a variety of recreation and leisure activities.
• Facilitate planned and spontaneous activities to promote wellbeing and community.
• Support resident skills, knowledge, and personal connections.
• Maintain engaging spaces/environments for resident activity and participation.
• Document changes in resident participation and update care plans as needed.
