Plastic Bank · Canada (Remote, must collaborate in Pacific Time)
Plastic Bank is on a mission to serve humanity by stopping plastic pollution and ending poverty. We believe in rising to the occasion, taking action, and becoming the change that the world needs.
We are looking for a world‑class, purpose‑driven Senior Creative Manager – Social & Video in Canada (must collaborate in Pacific time) who can turn impact into scroll‑stopping social content, data into stories, and partnerships into powerful campaigns — while protecting and elevating our global brand. We are not looking for someone to simply extend our current social feed, but for a creative who will reinvent how we show up with fresh, unexpected, and high‑impact ideas.
Your work will shape how Plastic Bank shows up to the world. This is a digital‑first, social‑first role with a strong emphasis on short‑form and long‑form video. You will lead the creation of high‑engagement content that activates our movement and builds compelling human stories across our owned and paid channels, with occasional support to earned media as needed.
Your Mission
Amplify our global movement with clear, compelling, human‑centered storytelling across social and digital channels. You will own major creative narratives, set the bar for video and content quality, and constantly push beyond our existing content with bold, whacky, experimental, and potentially viral ideas that build a visible, movement‑driving presence.
Creative & Brand Storytelling (Social & Video)
- Lead and own Plastic Bank’s social, video, and digital content strategy and creation.
- Ensure brand and messaging consistency across all teams and touchpoints.
- Conceptualize and produce fast‑paced, movement‑building social and video campaigns for platforms like LinkedIn, Instagram, YouTube, and emerging channels — going beyond our current social feed to test bold, whacky, and shareable formats that can travel and go viral.
- Translate impact into stories for web, social, events, and global partners.
- Position Plastic Bank’s leadership as go‑to voices on poverty alleviation, social impact, circular economy, ESG, EPR, and plastic offsets.
- Supervise and guide external Content Creators / Video Editors (from Fiverr panels or internal freelancers).
- Personally concept, script, and cut key videos to set creative direction and quality benchmarks for the rest of the creator team.
- Uphold creative expectations consistent with Plastic Bank’s style:
- Compelling (stops the scroll)
- Edgy (breaks norms)
- Bold (confident and expressive)
- Emotional (human‑centered)
- Movement‑enabling (drives action)
- Work with creators to produce high‑impact short‑form and long‑form content.
- Collaborate with the content engine (video editors, designers, writers) to produce unified storytelling.
Digital Presence & Community
- Guide, manage, and supervise two Community Managers.
- Track content performance (views, watch time, engagement, share rate, SOV, and sentiment); optimize creative and messaging based on performance data.
- Own and manage the digital asset library, ensuring all materials are classified, approved, and on‑brand.
- Develop and update Plastic Bank’s website content in close partnership with product, tech, and brand teams.
Media & External Advocacy (secondary responsibilities)
- Plan, write, and distribute press releases, media pitches, briefing docs, op‑eds, and talking points.
- Execute crisis communication protocols with speed, authenticity, and clear, aligned messaging.
Key Requirements
- 6+ years of hands‑on (not just supervisory) creative/content experience in social, video, or digital marketing (brand, agency, or production house).
- A strong portfolio/showreel of social‑first video and campaign work (please include links).
- Native‑level English proficiency with exceptional writing and editing skills.
- Fully conversant in using their AI video creation and editing tool(s) of choice to augment speed, creativity, workflows, and output (e.g., ChatGPT, Sora, Veo, Claude, Midjourney, Descript, Runway).
- Hands‑on experience in video production and editing (including AI‑assisted workflows), plus comfort directing other editors, video producers, and designers.
- Strong storytelling ability — able to switch between, and brief others on, different voices and formats:
- Executive thought leadership voice
- Social captions, hooks, and short‑form scripts (Reels/Shorts/TikTok/Stories)
- Video scripting and storyboarding for social and digital campaigns
- Proven track record of driving engagement and growth through social/video content (please include performance metrics where possible).
- Highly organized, strategic, and comfortable presenting to senior leadership.
- Able to collaborate across time zones; must be available during Pacific Time (BC) working hours.
