Job Description

The Senior Cost Accountant plays a key role in supporting operational efficiency and financial planning by analyzing production costs, preparing reports, and assisting in strategic decision-making. This role collaborates closely with plant operations, finance, procurement and supply chain to ensure accurate costing and inventory control.

Location: Wheatley Ontario

Responsibilities
  • Analyze and monitor manufacturing costs and variances.
  • Prepare cost reports and financial statements to provide insights for management decision making.
  • Prepare, analyze and present budgets and forecasts.
  • Develop standard costing.
  • Lead month-end and year-end close processes related to cost accounting.
  • Ensure compliance with internal controls and audit requirements.
  • Drive continuous improvement in cost tracking and reporting systems.
Qualifications
  • Post secondary education in accounting, finance or similar field of study.
  • 3 years’ of cost accounting experience in a manufacturing environment is strongly preferred.
  • A professional accounting designation.
  • Proficient with ERP systems (JD Edwards/Oracle a plus).
  • Advanced in Excel with the ability to develop reports and analyze data to provide strong recommendations to senior leadership.
  • Supervisory experience with a demonstrated ability to lead, coach and mentor.
  • Proven ability to work cross functionally.
