The opportunity

Within our talented and dynamic Insurance and Actuarial Advisory Services (IAAS) group, the Senior Actuarial Consultant will work on multiple client engagement teams that perform actuarial audit work, valuation and pricing analysis, model building and validation, cash flow testing, and many other related life insurance actuarial projects. You will also receive on-the-job training to acquire practical experience in addressing technical/business issues and in applying industry expertise and EY policies/procedures on client engagements. This position offers excellent opportunities for learning, teaming, leadership, and career advancement.

Put simply, our actuarial advisers deliver creative and innovative thinking to clients worldwide, supporting them in making confident financial judgements in support of their business goals. Here, you’ll be right at the heart of that mission, leading engagement teams, working directly with clients, mentoring and developing team members and building your personal brand as a leader in your field.

Your key responsibilities
  • Applying actuarial knowledge and experience in life and health insurance to deliver actuarial and broader insurance projects, including model validation, peer review, audit, pricing, due diligence, and related tasks.
  • Developing individual capabilities: expanding personal knowledge, monitoring developments in life insurance actuarial practice, mentoring junior team members, and sharing knowledge with the team.
  • Developing actuarial models for clients or for use in project delivery.
  • Building, converting and/or validating AXIS models, either independently or as part of a team.
  • Contributing to team success through peer review, knowledge sharing, proactive collaboration, and mentoring junior staff.
  • The successful candidate must be willing and able to travel, when necessary.
Skills and attributes for success
  • Strong oral and written communication skills
  • Strong conceptual, analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Strong collaboration, interpersonal and client-service skills
To qualify for the role you must have
