Overview
Senior Business Development Manager, Climate Finance role at Vancity Community Investment Bank (VCIB). This is a permanent, full-time position based in Ontario with hybrid work arrangements and periodic in-person events.

Responsibilities
- Build and manage a robust pipeline of climate finance loan opportunities for VCIB, in collaboration with senior leadership.
- Lead origination and structuring of clean energy, energy efficiency, and other climate-related transactions.
- Shape departmental direction by identifying priority markets, designing and refining loan products to meet market needs, and fostering partnerships across internal teams and external stakeholders.
- Lead inbound and outbound business development activities: engage prospective borrowers, represent the organization at conferences, and contribute to thought leadership.
- Cultivate and manage a pipeline of high-impact lending opportunities; maintain and grow relationships with industry groups, third-party providers, syndicate lenders, and referral partners.
- End-to-end deal execution: structuring to close, draft term sheets, prepare credit applications, supervise due diligence, and manage client relationships throughout the lifecycle.
- Provide coaching and oversight to Associates and Analysts on underwriting, financial modeling, and analysis; collaborate with Treasury, Credit Risk, and Marketing to align growth objectives.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Finance, Economics, Environmental Studies, or related field.
- 7–10 years of experience in business development, project finance, or climate-related lending.
- Proven track record in originating and closing complex financial transactions.
- Strong financial modeling and credit underwriting capabilities; familiarity with climate finance instruments and ESG frameworks.
- Deep understanding of climate finance markets, regulatory trends, and emerging technologies.
- Proficiency with CRM tools (e.g., Salesforce), Excel, and financial analysis platforms.
- Excellent interpersonal, negotiation, written and verbal communication skills for client engagement and internal / external representational duties.
