Job summary

Commissionaires Great Lakes in Toronto is seeking a Commissionaire to join our front-line security team. The role focuses on access control, client property protection, and duties at a security desk with Use of Force Level III training.

You'll work nights in a continental shift pattern (2100–0900) at 660 Fleet St, with a 12-hour shift and paid meal breaks. Ontario licensure, first aid/CPR, and reliability clearance are mandatory.

Qualifications

• Must hold a Valid Ontario Security Guard License.
• Valid WSIB First Aid and CPR certificate.
• Ability to obtain Level I (Reliability) Clearance and reside in Canada for 5+ years.

Responsibilities

• Follow access control policies and secure client property.
• Verify IDs and sign in/out visitors as required.
• Maintain professional relationships with employees, visitors, and clients.
• Complete site reports, logs, and written reports.
• Maintain appearance and deportment standards.
• Communicate effectively and respond to alarms/callouts.
• Assist employees, clients, and visitors as needed.
• Conduct regular interior patrols and monitor the security desk.
• Operate a computer with email and MS Office.
• Perform other duties as required by client or site supervisor.

INTRODUCTION:

Commissionaires Great Lakes (CGL) is a private, not-for-profit organization founded in 1925 on a mandate that prioritizes providing meaningful employment for veterans and others committed to the well being of Canadians primarily in security guard and related services. Spanning Central and Southwestern Ontario, our services are customized to respond to the dynamic and evolving security needs of both private and public sector clients. These include uniformed guard, mobile response and support services, by-law enforcement and identification services.

POSITION SUMMARY

Job type: Security/Access Control Use of Force

Reports to: Site Supervisor/Regional Manager

Anticipated start date: ASAP

Posting Close Date: Until filled

Hourly Rate of Pay: $26.86/hr ( Use of Force Level III)

Hours of work: 2100-0900 (12 Hours)(Paid Meal Breaks)

Shifts: Continental Shift (7 shifts in a 2 week rotation

Location: 660 Fleet St, Toronto, Ontario

Accessible by Transit: Yes

Uniform: White Shirt, Cargo pants, black footwear, Use of Force Level III equipment(CM)

RESPONSIBILITIES & DUTIES

• Ensure access control policies and procedures are followed and client property is secured
• Verify identification and sign in/out visitors as required
• Maintain positive attitude and professional working relationships with employees, visitors and clients
• Complete site reporting requirements, daily logs and written reports
• Maintain high standards of personal appearance and deportment
• Maintain effective communication
• Respond to alarms and calls for assistance
• Provide assistance to employees, clients and visitors
• Regular interior foot patrols
• Make sure the Security Desk is always monitored
• Able to operate a computer with email and Microsoft Office systems
• Other duties as may be required by the client or site supervisor

REQUIRED EDUCATION, QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE:

• *Mandatory*- Must hold a ValidOntario Security Guard License.
• *Mandatory*– Valid WSIB accredited First Aid and CPR certificate
• *Mandatory*-Be able to obtain a Level I (Reliability) Clearance - minimum 5 Years of Residency in Canada
  
• Must be able to complete CGL’s Use of Force Level III Class
  
• The ability to stand for long periods of time and complete frequent patrols
• Good understanding of computers
• Customer service/reception/administrative skills
• The ability to work alone while maintaining a high level of service to the client is essential
