Job summary

Commissionaires Great Lakes (CGL) is seeking a dedicated Commissionaire at our Milton, Ontario site. You will enforce access control, operate gates, monitor CCTV, respond to alarms, and assist staff and clients while maintaining a professional appearance.

The role requires a valid Ontario Security Guard Licence, First Aid/CPR, and the ability to obtain a Reliability (Level I) Security Clearance. A reliable personal vehicle and a Full G class licence are also needed.

Qualifications

• Ontario Security Guard Licence is required.
• First Aid and CPR certification are required.
• Reliability (Level I) Security Clearance with 5 years residency in Canada is required.

Responsibilities

• Ensure access control is followed and client property is secured.
• Operate a truck gate and manage vehicle flow in all weather.
• Escort visitors when required.
• Monitor CCTV equipment and respond to alarms.
• Assist employees, clients and visitors.
• Maintain professional appearance and relations with staff and clients.
• Rotate between East and South gates.
• Complete daily logs and reports as needed.
• Perform other duties as required by client or site supervisor.

INTRODUCTION:

Commissionaires Great Lakes (CGL) is a private, not-for-profit organization founded in 1925 on a mandate that prioritizes providing meaningful employment for veterans and others committed to the well‑being of Canadians primarily in security guard and related services. Spanning Central and Southwestern Ontario, our services are customized to respond to the dynamic and evolving security needs of both private and public sector clients. These include uniformed guard, mobile response and support services, by-law enforcement and identification services.

We are currently seeking a Commissionaire to join our growing team. This posting is for an existing vacancy.

WHAT OUR EXCEPTIONAL COMMISSIONAIRES ARE RESPONSIBLE FOR:

• Ensure access control is followed, and client property is secured
• Operate a truck gate, including managing vehicle flow and performing duties in all weather conditions
• Escort visitors as required
• Monitor CCTV equipment
• Respond to alarms and utilize alarm panels
• Assist employees, clients, and visitors
• Maintain a positive attitude and professional working relationships with employees, visitors, and clients
• Maintain high standards of personal appearance and deportment
• Must be able to rotate between East and South gates
• Complete daily logs and reports as necessary
• Other duties as may be required by the client or site supervisor

WE ARE EXCITED FOR YOU TO OFFER US:

• *MUST*have Ontario Security Guard License
• *MUST*have a valid First Aid and CPR certificate
• *MUST*be able to obtain a Reliability (Level I) Security Clearance (requires 5 years of residency in Canada)
• *MUST*have access to personal vehicle, this will be used for patrol duties; mileage will be reimbursed
• *MUST*have a Full G class license and Clean Drivers Abstract
• Excellent English verbal and written communication skills
• Strong understanding of computers and security related principles
• Ability to stand/sit for long periods
• Must be able to handle confidential information with a high level of discretion
• Must be able to make quick, sound decisions in emergency response situations with minimal supervision
• Must be able to work alone while maintaining a high level or service to the client is essential
• Demonstrated ability to multi-task and perform in stressful situations

WHAT THE JOB OFFERS YOU:

• Rate of Pay: $20.18 per hour
• Working Hours:
  • Week 1: Monday, Tuesday, Friday, and Saturday (0700 - 1900hrs)
  • Week 2: Sunday, Wednesday, and Thursday (0700 - 1900hrs)
• Location: 400 Chisholm Drive, Milton, Ontario
