About the job RQ07480:Solution Architect

Description

Architect to provide professional application architecture expertise, and undertake comprehensive architecture needs assessments and complex reviews in support of systems/infrastructure needs for OPS clients (i.e. LRC I&IT clusters, OMAFA and enterprise I&IT organization) as it pertains to the OASIS project.

Develop EA Solution Architecture documentation as identified for OASIS AGP 0 (EA Statement of Work) that is in alignment with Business Architecture future state models and to support development build of the OASIS solution for a modernized Pedology and Agronomy business model.

Collaborate with the project team consisting of business architect, information architect, project manager, business analysts, development team, business subject matter experts, business stakeholders and other related roles to develop the AGP 1 and AGP 2 architecture artefacts. Ensure the AGP 1 and AGP 2 artefacts are reviewed and feedback from the LRC Enterprise Architecture team and Corporate Enterprise Architecture Review Board incorporated.

Responsibilities:

  • Review business needs and requirements and business architecture information to analyze, design and develop application architecture outputs and artefacts (e.g. Solutions Architecture Document, Solution Requirements Document, and Information Architecture Document) and related documentation as required by Cluster and Corporate ARB for AGP 1 and AGP 2.
  • Ensures application artefacts developed are:
    • Aligned with the OPS Enterprise Information Architecture (EIA) Federated Framework.
    • In compliance with government-wide and ministry guidelines, policies, directives, and standards.
    • Integrated with related corporate and client policies and standards, and incorporation of best practices in the industry.
  • Creates and updates application architecture artefacts by collaborating with Cluster Architects by incorporating their review feedback as applicable.
  • Undertakes and/or leads in-depth and complex applications architecture development and/or support projects deliverables, to support new and changed enterprise priorities and initiatives, and client clusters and their clients applications architecture and/or business needs.
  • Provide leadership, in-depth technical knowledge, expertise and advice:
    • Leads and/or participates in highly sensitive applications architecture investigations.
    • Act as the Team's technical expert, provide strategic advice in the development of data pipelines, data lakes, data warehouses and application architectures.
    • Acts as the lead technical authority on the program and is responsible for planning all activities leading to the development of the overall solution architecture.
  • The consultant will be using a Hybrid work arrangement comprising of up to 3 days a week onsite availability to the Guelph office location or any GTA office locations as directed/required by the client (LRC I&IT).

Skills, Experience and Skill Set Requirements

Must have:

  • Total IT experience of at least 10 years, out of which 5 years doing solution architecture on large complex projects.
  • Solid experience across a variety of technologies and design approaches (e.g. Java/JEE frameworks, GIS Enterprise tools, APIs, Data Marts, Data Lakes, Vendor packaged and/or hosted solutions, Workflow Management, Business Intelligence, Machine Learning, Data Science Workflows, Security, etc.).
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, and experienced working with diverse stakeholders.
  • Proven ability and experience to define end to end technical solutions taking into account the enterprise architecture strategies, current state environment and constraints and analyze the viability of the solution.
  • Proven experience facilitating JAD sessions, developing complex application conceptual, logical and physical architecture with full traceability and alignment into architecture domain artifacts.
  • Expertise in architecture with deep knowledge in Technical, Application design, implementation, deployments, technology strategies, policies, plans, current and emerging architecture practices.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of cybersecurity and product management best practices.
  • Apply industry best practices and standards in architecture, software and systems engineering, design and development tools and techniques, and software lifecycle methodologies.
  • Seasoned in analysing systems requirements, architecting, designing, and implementing IT solutions that conform to IT standards and best practices.
  • Exceptional communication skills required to visualize, depict, and convey complex concepts to a broadly diverse audience including technical and business audiences.
  • Effectively communicate and build rapport with team members, stakeholders and interface groups using a variety of techniques and collaboration from initiation to closure.
  • Facilitates small to large group meetings for reviewing technical architecture, decision making and problem solving.
  • Demonstrated initiative and good judgement in seeking alternatives to resolve technical problems.
  • Knowledge of or experience in Government of Ontario IT Standards (GO-ITS) for Architecture.
  • Experience in developing solution architectures using Ontario Government Enterprise Architecture methodologies and GO-ITS.
  • Applied Data Modeling and development of solution and Program Area(s) Data Architecture into Solution Architecture.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of and experience with Information Management, including Data Governance, Data Quality, Master Data Management, Records Management.
  • Knowledge of cloud platforms such as Azure or AWS, DevOps, CI/CD, Docker, Kubernetes.
  • Experience with OPS Enterprise Architecture governance process and relevant GO-ITS standards.
  • Expert level knowledge of applying Design Systems and best practices for developing web-based applications that meet AODA compliance standards.

Must haves:

  • Review business needs and requirements and business architecture information to analyze, design and develop application architecture outputs and artefacts (e.g. Solutions Architecture Document, Solution Requirements Document, Solution Requirements Document).
  • Creation of alignment of Solution Architecture Document to the Business Architecture Document, Solution Requirements Document (SRD).
  • Total IT experience of at least 10 years, out of which 5 years doing solution architecture on large complex projects.
