Job summary

Town of Whitby is seeking a Supervisor, Operations - Roads & Traffic to lead daily road operations within a hybrid work setup. The role focuses on supervising staff, enforcing safety standards, and coordinating maintenance and traffic-related tasks across departments.

Responsibilities

Supervise and direct Roads & Traffic staff and crews.
Provide leadership and guidance to staff; ensure safety and service expectations.
Review maintenance standards and work plans for staff and contractors.
Maintain a visible field presence to monitor best practices and accountability.
Establish clear performance expectations and drive continuous improvements.
Assist Manager with budget preparation and monitoring for operating and capital needs.
Prepare reports and correspondence addressing operational issues.
Prepare and administer contracts, POs, quotations and tenders.
Respond to public inquiries and complaints; manage after-hours emergencies.
Ensure compliance with OHSA, Highway Traffic Act, and applicable laws.
Perform other related duties as required.
