Job summary

The Town of Whitby is seeking a Supervisor of Operations - Parks to lead the Parks division, supervise staff, and ensure high-quality municipal services. You will manage daily operations, support budgeting, and maintain safety and SOP compliance while engaging with residents and stakeholders.

Strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills are essential, along with a parks-related degree and several years of supervisory experience in a unionized municipal setting.

Qualifications

• Diploma or degree in a parks-related discipline.
• At least five years of experience in parks maintenance or operations, including three years in supervisory roles.
• Experience in municipal winter operations preferred.
• Strong management, leadership, interpersonal and team-building skills.
• Knowledge of municipal government and applicable legislation.

Responsibilities

• Oversee day-to-day operation of the Parks division.
• Provide input to development of long-term resource needs and strategic plans.
• Lead staff, coach and ensure accountability for results.
• Ensure safety, SOP compliance, and training of staff and contractors.
• Assist with capital and operating budgets and respond to resident inquiries.
