Job summary

The Corporation of the Town of Whitby is seeking a Working Foreperson (Roads & Stormwater Management) to lead road and stormwater operations in Whitby. Reporting to the Supervisor of Operations, you will oversee winter and daily maintenance, supervise frontline staff, plan work, and ensure safety and quality standards.

Requires a 2-year post-secondary diploma in Civil or Traffic, plus 3+ years in roads/traffic, and a DZ licence.

Qualifications

Minimum two-year post-secondary diploma in Civil or Traffic.
Minimum three years of related roads/traffic experience.
Knowledge of methods, materials, tools and equipment used in roads/traffic.
Current Certification in First Aid & CPR 'C' and AED is required.
DZ driver’s licence and ability to operate heavy vehicles.

Responsibilities

Oversee maintenance of storm water facilities, roads, ditches, sidewalks, bridges and methane monitoring.
Lead winter maintenance and supervise frontline staff with training and performance monitoring.
Schedule, plan and inspect work; monitor programs and material requirements.
Prepare reports, manage inventory and ensure safety as per SOPs.
Participate in after-hours on-call rotation and handle emerging issues.
