Job summary

The Town of Whitby is seeking a Supervisor, Operations - Roads & Traffic to oversee daily operations of the Roads division, including urban and rural roads, traffic signs, and pavement markings. You will coach staff, manage contracts, and ensure safety and service expectations are met.

Qualifications

• Post-secondary diploma in Civil Engineering or related discipline.
• Minimum of five years progressive supervisory experience.
• C.E.T. designation from OACETT is preferred.
• Excellent communication skills to liaise with staff, consultants and the public.
• Ability to work well under pressure to meet deadlines.

Responsibilities

• Oversee daily operation and supervision of the Roads divisions; urban and rural roads, traffic signs and pavement markings; storm water management.
• Coach staff, monitor performance, and ensure safety and service expectations.
• Assist Manager with budgets, reports, contracts, tenders, and correspondence.
• Respond to public inquiries and after-hours emergencies and storm events.
• Ensure compliance with federal, provincial and municipal legislation including the OHSA and Highway Traffic Act.
