As a Registered Practical Nurse, Mental Health and Addictions (Status:Part-Time Start date; February 2, 2026; Location: Sudbury), you will be assigned to a district school board to advise educators, develop individualcare plans in collaboration with other professionals and assist school boardsin developing strategies to address mental health and addiction needs.

Whether you work in our office, in the community, or a health carefacility – you will play a lead role in providing connected, accessible,patient-centered care – and be supported by our collaborative team thatincludes over 9,000 regulated health care and other professionals.

What will you do?
  • Assist school boards in recognizing and responding to student mental health and addiction issues;
  • Provide medical consultation to educators regarding issues such as medication management for individual students, when overall needs of the patient are less complex, outcomes are morepredictable and the risk of negative outcomes is low;
  • Provide services and support to students with mild mental health and substance abuse issues;
  • Consult with the RN and/or other appropriate members of the healthcare team when support and/or intervention is required in complex mental health and addiction issues;
  • Develop plans for patients with mental health and addiction needs;
  • Play a key role in helping students and/or parents’ access services such as family health and/or addictionsagencies;
  • Apply knowledge of nursing process, as it relates to scope of practice, to achieve identified client goals.
What must you have?
  • Directclinical experience in providing mental health and/or addictions services for children and youth;
  • Knowledgeof the mental health and addictions service system for children and youth;
  • Solidknowledge of health care related legislation and practices;
  • Assessmentand care planning skills;
  • Abilityto work independently;
  • Effectiveinterpersonal and communications skills;
  • RegisteredPractical Nurse and relevant related experience;
  • Currentregistration with the College of Nurses of Ontario;
  • Validdriver’s license and access to a reliable vehicle as travel will berequired;
  • ValidEmergency First Aid Certification;
  • Advancedwritten and oral proficiency in English is essential;
  • We have amandatory COVID-19 vaccination policy. As a condition of employment, allemployees are required to submit proof of COVID-19 vaccination statusprior to start date.

Salary

Hourly wage of $36.05 to $41.48
