For 40 years, New Westminster aquatics has been a leader and innovator in building and providing effective swimming programs, including one of the largest swim programs in Canada; “Breaking Waves Learn to Swim Program”. We are seeking qualified, enthusiastic, energetic, and reliable lifeguards to join our team at our new təməsew̓txʷ Aquatic and Community Centre facility.

TRAINING AND CERTIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:
  • CPR “C” level, current within 1 year of last certification.
  • National Lifeguard Certificate and Lifesaving Society Swim Instructor, current within 2 years of last certification.
AVAILABILITY REQUIREMENTS:
  • You must be available to work evenings and weekends.
  • You must be available to attend one skill-screening session on either January 17 or 18 from 1:00-4:00 pm
  • You must be available to attend all weekend lifeguard and instructor, paid onboard training sessions (no exceptions) between February 21 and March 15. Times of training to be determined.
GENERAL REQUIREMENTS:
  • Ability to develop and maintain effective working relationships with staff and build pleasant and courteous public relations with facility patrons.
  • Ability to remain alert and professional while on duty.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to ensure all required awards and certifications remain current.
  • Eligible to work in Canada.
  • Must be able to successfully pass and maintain a clear Police Information Check, including Vulnerable Sector Check.
