Overview

The City of Thompson is accepting applications for the Recreation Operations Manager position within the Recreation and Community Services Department. The successful candidate will supervise staff, assist the Director of Recreation and Community Services, and oversee the development and evaluation of recreational programs at the Thompson Regional Community Centre and the new Aquatic Facility. The role involves supervisory, administrative, and professional duties in the operation of recreational facilities and parks.

Responsibilities
  • Recruit, train, manage, and foster a positive work environment for the recreation staff, including aquatics staff, pool plant and ice plant operators, laborers, custodians, and recreation coordinators.
  • Supervise the operation of the recreational facilities and parks.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in a sports or recreation‑related field, or equivalent experience.
  • Minimum of 5 years in a supervisory role, supervising 10 or more staff members in a unionized environment.
  • Knowledge and comprehension of aquatic recreation, ice arenas, recreational complexes, outdoor recreational programs, parks, and related legislative mandates.
  • Strong problem‑solving abilities and capacity to handle diverse challenges.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
